Kruijswijk with Felice Gimondi on the Granfondo roads

The Dutchman of Bianchi-equipped LottoNL-Jumbo Team will go on a recce ride on GF Gimondi Bianchi’s course on Saturday January 7th, in the setup for a prominent role in the next Giro d’Italia 

The new year will bring a special visitor on the roads of the 21st Granfondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi Bianchi, to be held in Bergamo next May 7th, 2017. Team LottoNL-Jumbo‘s Steven Kruijswijk, fourth overall after wearing the leader’s pink jersey for five days at the last Giro d’Italia, will go on a recce ride on Granfondo’s course on January 7th, in the view of the Giro’s 100th edition, where the Dutchman aims to play a main role once again. In the inspection set up by Granfondo’s organizer Giuseppe Manenti, Kruijswijk will be riding a Bianchi Oltre XR4. Felice Gimondi will also join the Dutchman on the course.

At 2016 Giro d’Italia, Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s rider went really close to the podium, surrendering the pink jersey only after a scary crash in Colle dell’Agnello’s descent. The 29-year-old rider from Neunen was also third in stage 4. Catanzaro-Praia a Mare, and runner-up three times: in Corvara behind Johan Esteban Chaves, in the Alpe di Siusi uphill ITT with Bianchi Specialissima 24 hours later, clocking the same time of winner Alexander Foliforov, and finally in Andalo in Alejandro Valverde’s wake.
