The climb from Nembro to Selvino, the most renowned and representative tract of the Granfondo, is dedicated to Eugenio Mercorio, a chartered accountant and cyclist. Famous and esteemed professional, loved and appreciated for his human qualities that brought him close to many people, with whom he pedalled i cities, our valleys, our mountains and anywhere.
The participants in the Eugenio Mercorio time trial, race in the race with classification, will be cycling on his favourite route that he challenged hundreds of times with his friends since 1999 and also during this event, like everyone else at first, and then with one lung only, tenaciously and proudly until 2010 when his climbs ended at 51 years of age, pedalling to the sky.
