BGY Airport Granfondo confirms its commitment to sustainability and light mobility together with its partners

The organisers of the prestigious international Granfondo in Bergamo are demonstrating their strong commitment to the environment, thanks in part to the invaluable support of their partners.

BGY Airport Granfondo continues to place strong focus on environmental sustainability and light mobility, thanks to the support of partners who share the same vision. The international cycling event, scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2026, across Bergamo city and province, once again promotes an organizational model increasingly attentive to environmental impact.

Thanks to the collaboration with Uniacque and Sarco Toyota, two companies deeply connected to the Bergamo area, practical solutions will be implemented to reduce plastic and fuel consumption during the event, while also promoting sustainable habits among participants and staff.

An important contribution also comes from ATB Azienda Trasporti Bergamo, the new Mobility Partner of the event, which has supported the promotion of the Granfondo in recent months through a dedicated campaign on city buses, further strengthening the message of efficient and sustainable mobility.

Along all refreshment points on the route, EcoZones will be available: dedicated waste collection areas for bottles, wrappers, snacks, and other materials, clearly identified with dedicated signage.

Special attention will also be given to reducing the use of bottled plastic water. Through the event’s participation in Uniacque’s “Acqua Eco Sport” project and the Water Alliance Group, BGY Airport Granfondo will help avoid the transport and use of approximately 18 pallets of bottled water, encouraging instead the consumption of drinking water.

For the fourth consecutive year, the collaboration with Sarco Toyota will also continue, with the dealership providing electric vehicles to support race operations and assistance services, further reducing the event’s environmental footprint.

To further raise awareness among participants and the public, a dedicated section is available on the official website www.granfondobgy.it. On the Green Event page, visitors can find useful sustainable tips and best practices to adopt not only during the event but also in everyday life.
