Art and BGY Airport Granfondo 2026 with the works of Andrea Mastrovito
Sunday, May 10 marks the renewal of the collaboration with Fondazione Creberg to promote the works of a local artist within the cycling event.
The partnership between BGY Airport Granfondo and Fondazione Creberg is set to continue in 2026, with the aim of promoting art and culture.
The prestigious international cycling event, which will take place on Sunday, May 10 under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation, once again seeks to highlight elements that, while not directly related to sporting activity, remain an integral part of our society and of the local area hosting the event.
For one day, art and sport ride together. With this goal, BGY Airport Granfondo and Fondazione Creberg have been collaborating for several years to present exhibitions and cultural initiatives, under the coordination of Angelo Piazzoli, President of Fondazione Credito Bergamasco. The combination of art and cycling transforms the race into a socially responsible event.
Many artists have “passed under the BGY banner”: after Marco Ceravolo, Valentina Persico, Giorgio Paris, Hemo, Steven Cavagna, Tiziano Finazzi, Zaccaria Cremaschi, Marinella Bettineschi, Trento Longaretti, Fabio Agliardi, Giovanni Bonaldi, Carlo Previtali, Emilio Belotti, Giovanni Frangi and Cosetta Arzuffi, it will now be Andrea Mastrovito’s turn.
The Artist: ANDREA MASTROVITO
Andrea Mastrovito (Bergamo, 1978) lives and works between Bergamo and New York. He is an Italian multimedia artist known for his ability to define drawing across different media, from paper to installations and animated films, all enriched by strong narrative skills that allow him to engage multiple forms of expression.
He graduated in 2001 from the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo. Since the mid-2000s, Mastrovito has exhibited in museums and Biennials around the world. His most recognized works include L’isola del dottor Mastrovito (2010–2012), created using thousands of cut-out books; Gv 19,30 (2014), three-dimensional stained glass windows for the Church of Saint John XXIII in Bergamo; his animated films NYsferatu (2017) and Non sono leggenda (2020); and the installation Tristes Presentimientos de lo que ha de acontecer (2022), created using recycled materials for Proa21 in Buenos Aires and now part of the permanent collection of GAMeC in Bergamo.
In 2025, he was commissioned to create the Agnus Dei for the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona—an artwork that, once installed, will mark the completion of the basilica’s main construction site after 140 years.
His works have been featured in numerous institutional exhibitions across Europe and the United States, including at MAXXI – National Museum of the 21st Century Arts and Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome; Centro Pecci in Prato; MART in Rovereto; Manchester Art Gallery; B.P.S. 22 in Charleroi; Belvedere21 in Vienna; Mudac in Lausanne; and the Museum of Arts and Design, Queens Museum, and The Drawing Center in New York.
In his early years, Fondazione Creberg supported an important exhibition of the Bergamo-born artist, who on that occasion donated the work Untitled (pictured) to the Foundation. This piece will be presented for the 2026 edition of Art and Granfondo.
