BGY Airport Granfondo: Over One Thousand Entries Already Confirmed

The threshold of 1,200 registered riders has already been surpassed. The BGY Airport Granfondo of Bergamo, scheduled for Sunday, 10 May 2026, raises the bar with new routes and an inclusive vision, heading towards an extraordinary edition.

Even before reaching the finish line of the 2026 edition, the BGY Airport Granfondo has already achieved a symbolic and tangible milestone: more than 1,200 participants have confirmed their registration, choosing to be part of an event that continues to grow, evolve and strengthen its identity.

This figure represents far more than a statistic. It tells the story of the strength of a clear and inclusive vision: the granfondo just like you are. A unique format on the Italian – and international – scene, offering a wide range of routes, emotions and ways to experience cycling, open to every type of rider and bicycle, set within a truly unique and unmistakable landscape. All of this is underpinned by a strong and recognisable identity, starting with the partnership with BGY Milan Bergamo Airport, title sponsor of the event and Europe’s first bike-friendly airport.

It is precisely from this “runway” that the 2026 edition takes off. Scheduled for Sunday, 10 May, it will be the 28th edition of an event whose story began in 1996 and which has become, over the years – and with nearly 40 years of experience in on-road events – a true benchmark in the granfondo world. The BGY Airport Granfondo is part of the Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) calendar and a permanent fixture in the Serie A of Granfondos.

The relaunch of the event is also reflected in a claim that perfectly captures its philosophy and identity:
BGYOU. Bergamo is you.

You are the bike, you are the passion, you are your own personal way of experiencing cycling as emotion, effort, discovery and connection with the beauty and nature of an Italy made to be explored on two wheels.

A direct invitation to every cyclist – regardless of level, style or background – to feel part of a community in motion, one that looks to the future while remaining deeply connected to an authentic and fascinating territory of iconic climbs, valleys, historic villages and mountains.

As tradition dictates, the start will once again be from Via Marzabotto, near the Bergamo Stadium, in the heart of an increasingly international and bike-friendly city.

For 2026, participants will be able to choose between three iconic routes plus a Sprint option, the major new feature of the edition. Riders will also have the freedom to decide their route even at the last moment, based on their preparation and how they feel on the day:

  • Sprint: 63 km | 800 m elevation gain (brand new)
  • Short: 91 km | 1,400 m elevation gain
  • Medium: 130 km | 2,100 m elevation gain
  • Long: 148 km | 2,800 m elevation gain

BGYOU is the granfondo you want. BGYOU is also the bike you want. All types of bicycles are allowed: traditional road bikes, gravel bikes, e-bikes, city bikes and more, making the event truly inclusive and open to an ever broader and more diverse audience.

Surpassing the 1,000-entry mark in the post-Covid era is not just an achievement: it is confirmation that BGYOU is not just a slogan, but a living and moving community. A granfondo that, once again, chooses to be exactly like you are. Free to ride towards your own success.
