The Granfondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi-Bianchi pay tribute to Bergamo and its citizens carrying on the fight against Covid-19 as the 2021 edition\u2019s core theme.<\/em><\/p>\n

During the last months, while the Covid-19 pandemic was affecting Bergamo<\/strong> and its area, a read heart has been hanged on every balcony to unite an entire population as a symbol of the battle against the virus. Throughout difficult weeks that marked the lives of many families in the Bergamo area, a whole community was able to stick together the doctors and nurses in the front line.<\/p>\n

Not to forget those moments and pay tribute to the city of Bergamo and its territory, the Granfondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi-Bianchi<\/strong> organizing committee adopted this symbol for the 2021 edition\u2019s corporate identity. The red heart also holds the spirit of the event to be held on May 9th, 2021<\/strong> in Felice Gimondi<\/strong>\u2019s tribute. The strong connection between the cycling Champion and his homeland comes back to life, same as for 2020 edition then cancelled, with this art installation: inside the red heart, fourteen cyclists wearing the jerseys conquered by Felice Gimondi during his career<\/strong>. The GF Gimondi 2021 wants to be an opportunity to start over, renewing the bond between the city and the event.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Sedrinese<\/strong> jersey displayed at the centre refers to the Felice Gimondi\u2019s early career, surrounded by cyclists riding in a ride circular wave. Some of them are red-coloured like the heart, representing the passion for cycling that GF Gimondi and Bergamo\u2019s people have in common, while other cyclists wearing the jerseys of Gimondi\u2019s main victories.<\/p>\n

With six months to go until May 9th 2021, the organizing committee led by Giuseppe Manenti<\/strong> is working to guarantee as usual a high-quality event with top-level safety measures. GMS<\/strong> decided to postpone the registrations opening due to the increase in Covid-19 infections in Italy and across Europe, a new date to be announced in the upcoming weeks.<\/p>\n
