GF Gimondi Bianchi\u2019s organizers set the official date of 2019 event. “Tribute to the Magnificent 7” is the 23rd edition\u2019s theme, celebrating the cycling champions able to win Giro d\u2019Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta Espana<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cTribute to the Magnificent 7<\/strong>\u201d, May 5th 2019<\/strong>: these are the theme and the official date of 23rd Granfondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi-Bianchi<\/strong>, the main cyclyng4all event featuring high-class technical and organizational standard. Long-standing tied with the main victories of Felice Gimondi<\/strong> all over the world, the event in Bergamo<\/strong> will also celebrate other former and today\u2019s champions able to equal Gimondi\u2019s feat on the same prestigious races.<\/p>\n As usual, the GF Gimondi Bianchi\u2019s placement in the Granfondo calendar depended on the Italian Serie A fixtures. \u201cWe\u2019d like to fix the dates of next events until 2025, but we always have to take into account the Serie A schedule and Atalanta\u2019s home matches, due to safety and traffic reasons. Maybe in three years, once the stadium refurbishment will be completed with the construction of a new underground parking, we\u2019ll manage to plan more independently our event\u201d, <\/em>organizer Beppe Manenti<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n The 2019 Granfondo will highlight Felice Gimondi\u2019s hits and even more. After the celebration of Gimondi\u2019s triumph at the 1968 Vuelta Espana<\/strong>, where Felice completed the \u201ctriple crown\u201d with the wins at Tour de France (1965)<\/strong> and Giro d\u2019Italia (1967)<\/strong>, next year the GF Gimondi Bianchi will honor the \u201cmagnificent 7<\/strong>\u201d riders able to achieve the Grand Slam. Jacques Anquetil<\/strong> was the very first to complete the \u201cone-two-three\u201d in 1963<\/strong>, followed by Felice Gimondi (1968), Eddy Merckx<\/strong> (1973<\/strong>), Bernard Hinault<\/strong> (1980)<\/strong>, Alberto Contador<\/strong> (2008<\/strong>), Vincenzo Nibali<\/strong> (2014<\/strong>) and eventually Chris Froome<\/strong>, the latter joining the \u00e9lite club by winning the 2018 Giro d\u2019Italia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “We aim to emphasize both Gimondi\u2019s victories and the historical pages where he left his indelible mark. While our 2019 event\u2019s brainstorming, Froome topped the Giro d\u2019Italia\u2019s GC joining the triple crown\u2019s club, so we took the opportunity to launch the \u2018Magnificent 7\u2019 theme\u201d<\/em>, Manenti added.<\/p>\n Also for the 23rd edition<\/strong>, the Granfondo Gimondi Bianchi’s organizers are going to draft a celebrative jersey linked to the event\u2019s topic, coming soon to delight cycling fans and collectors.<\/p>\n GM Sport<\/strong> will announce the registration\u2019s opening date shortly, joined to some special opportunity for the early enrolled riders. Granfondo Felice Gimondi-Bianchi will confirm the three classic routes, \u201cshort\u201d, \u201cmedium\u201d and \u201clong\u201d (89,4 km<\/strong>, 128,8 km<\/strong>, 162,1 km<\/strong>), personally charted by Felice Gimondi and much appreciated by every cyclist of any level or age.<\/p>\n
