Manuel Senni and Maria Elena Palmisano were the overall winners while Tomas Colbrelli, Sonny\u2019s brother, prevailed on the medium distance<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bergamo\u00a0<\/strong>has celebrated a new beginning today,<strong>\u00a0Sunday, May 14th<\/strong>, the one of its representative Granfondo event shining a light on the reality and cycling love of the\u00a0<strong>2023 Italian Capital of Culture<\/strong>\u00a0and on its ever-growing\u00a0<strong>international airport<\/strong>. At 7:00 o\u2019clock the Mayor of Bergamo\u00a0<strong>Giorgio Gori<\/strong>\u00a0and Bergamo&#8217;s Province Councillor\u00a0<strong>Giorgia Gandossi\u00a0<\/strong>gave the ceremonial start to the story of the\u00a0<strong>new BGY Airport Granfondo<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0risen from the partnership with the\u00a0<strong>Milan Bergamo Airport<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0new partner and title sponsor of the event.<\/p>\n<p>With a joyful procession of\u00a0<strong>over 2000 riders<\/strong>, the new event has laid excellent foundations to extend a tradition of 25 years, blessed by a mild weather and no rain until the final finisher, in spite of the unpromising weather forecast. Same as in 2022, Italian\u00a0<strong>Manuel Senni<\/strong>\u00a0(Team Crainox) took the overall win completing the full\u00a0<strong>162,1 km<\/strong>\u00a0distance in 4h33.27, at an average of 35,566 km\/h. French\u00a0<strong>Loic Ruffaut<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>from Brian\u00e7on, was again runner-up, at 1.36.\u00a0<strong>Federico Pozzecco<\/strong>\u00a0(MGKVis Dal Colle), third at 2.04, rounded out the podium. The women&#8217;s race was all about\u00a0<strong>Maria Elena Palmisano<\/strong>\u00a0(Garda Scott Matergia), who put on a solo clinic by sweeping away all the opponents.<\/p>\n<p>One of the stories of the day was the winner on the\u00a0<strong>Medium distance<\/strong>\u00a0among men:\u00a0<strong>Tomas Colbrelli<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>younger brother of former European Champions and Paris Roubaix winner Sonny Colbrelli<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the race, Tomas wore\u00a0<strong>Sonny\u2019s helmet<\/strong>\u00a0decorated with the European Champion&#8217;s jersey stars, as a good luck charm. \u201c<em>I have started riding just two years ago, I used to play football before.<\/em>\u00a0<em>Through cycling, I fully understood how demanding and hard the professional sport is.
