The BGY Airport Granfondo, the iconic Granfondo of Bergamo, returns on 10 May 2026, bringing a fresh burst of energy to its 28th edition. This year’s claim – BGYOU. Bergamo is you. – highlights a renewed focus on riders, their experience, and their personal way of living cycling.
Registrations opened on 7 November, and all details can be found on the official website granfondobgy.it.
Major 2026 Innovation: Introducing the Sprint Route
Alongside the three classic and beloved routes that have made the BGY Airport Granfondo a landmark for thousands of cyclists, the 2026 edition will introduce an exciting new feature: the Sprint Route. This addition offers a more accessible distance and allows participants to enjoy the event with greater freedom and flexibility.
The idea aligns with trends seen in major amateur events, such as the 55 km / Sellaronda course at the Maratona dles Dolomites – which has recorded between 1,000 and 1,800 finishers over the past decade – or the Valle del Chianti short route (46 km) at L’Eroica, featuring 1,615 participants in the 2025 edition.
Four Routes, One Shared Passion
In 2026, participants will be able to choose from four routes, deciding based on their training level and “the feeling of the day”:
- Sprint (new): 63 km | 800 m elevation
- Short: 91 km | 1,400 m elevation
- Medium: 130 km | 2,100 m elevation
- Long: 148 km | 2,800 m elevation
Cycling as Discovery, Freedom, and Sustainability
The BGY Airport Granfondo has long embraced cycling not only as a sport but also as a way to explore, live, and respect the territory, promoting a growing slow-ride philosophy and environmental awareness.
True to the BGYOU spirit, all types of bicycles are welcome: road bikes, e-bikes, gravel bikes, vintage rides, city bikes, and more. This inclusiveness is one of the event’s truly distinctive features.
